Prices as published on each clinic's own website in October 2026; AUD rounded to the nearest AU$50. "Not stated" means the clinic's published price list does not say. Techniques are grouped from the clinic's own wording; a line that names none says so. A guarantee is a commercial term set by the clinic, not evidence of how long the work lasts, and may be honoured only at that clinic. Google review counts are shown as bands.

How we put these numbers together

Prices were taken from the clinics' own published price lists on 19 October 2026, converted at 1 AUD = 0.6978 USD, 0.6228 EUR (open.er-api.com, 10 October 2026) and rounded to the nearest AU$50. We checked 21 clinics in Istanbul; 9 publish a price per procedure package for this treatment, across 14 price lines (a clinic that prices several techniques appears once per technique, under the same letter, at its lowest published starting price for that technique). Ranges are of starting prices; where a clinic publishes a range, both ends are shown in the table. Where a group has an even number of lines, its middle figure is the midpoint of the two central lines. A line that names more than one technique is counted under the first technique it names. Packages are priced per procedure as the clinic sells them; the number of grafts each covers is as the clinic states it, and per-graft prices are left out. Where a clinic shows a promotional price beside its list price, the list price is used. Clinic names are withheld at the clinics' request; the full source list is on file and is shared with you in your written quote. "From" prices are the clinic's own starting price; what each includes is shown exactly as the clinic states it.

  • Exchange rates: 1 AUD = 0.6978 USD, 0.6228 EUR (open.er-api.com, 10 October 2026).
  • Rounding: nearest AU$50. Conversions use the full rate; the rates above are shown to four decimals. Figures are the clinics' published prices, not quotes from us, and can change without notice.
  • Clinics checked: 21. Clinics publishing a price for this treatment: 9. Data compiled 19 October 2026. Price lines not shown: 44 published for a different unit (other); 30 held for review (the unit or inclusions were not clear on the page); 1 published for a different unit (per graft).
  • Exchange-rate source: open.er-api.com (ExchangeRate-API), daily reference rates.
  • Where this guide refers to what patients report about booking services, it draws on 203 public Trustpilot reviews of 3 treatment-abroad booking services, read in July 2026, on a platform the companies cannot edit. Those are reviews of booking services, not of the clinics on this page; the files and counts are kept on record.
  • We do not publish clinic names on this site at the clinics' request. Your written quote names the clinic and carries its current price list. How we gather and refresh these figures, and how we are paid, is set out on how we price these guides.

The all-in arithmetic

Treatment starting price plus one return economy fare. Hotel, meals, insurance and our coordination fee are on top and quoted separately.

Return economy fares, quoted 10 October 2026

  • Sydney to Istanbul: AU$1,405 to AU$1,811 (best-value options, 23 November to 2 December 2026)
  • Brisbane to Istanbul: AU$1,560 to AU$1,774 (best-value options, 23 November to 2 December 2026)

Google Flights, 1 adult, up to one stop. Fares move daily; these are the day's figures, not a quote.

Time on the ground

7 of the 9 clinics priced on this page state a stay length on their own site; their figures run from 2 to 3 days. Clinics count arrival, procedure and check-up or wash days differently, so the figures vary.

Typical protocol only. Your clinic confirms visits and days after seeing your scans.

Treatment starting price (per procedure package) plus one return fare: about AU$4,600 to AU$11,100

Rounded to the nearest AU$50. One return fare is counted. Hotel nights are included only where the clinic states it, meals and insurance are extra, and our coordination fee is on top.

As of October 2026, Istanbul clinics that publish a hair transplant price put it at AU$3,200 to AU$9,300 per procedure package, with published ranges reaching AU$10,050. These are the clinics’ own list prices, converted at the open.er-api.com rate for 10 October 2026, and they are starting prices, not quotes. Of the 21 Istanbul clinics we checked, 9 publish a package price for this treatment, across 14 price lines. A clinic that prices more than one technique has one line per technique.

This guide is for men in Australia and the UK weighing a hair transplant in Istanbul. The flights and all-in figures use Sydney and Brisbane departures; UK readers will need their own fare.

How to read the Istanbul package ranges

A package, not a price per graft

Istanbul clinics sell a hair transplant as a package for one procedure, often with a hotel stay and transfers around it. Per-graft prices are left out of the ranges, because a per-graft rate and a package price cannot be lined up fairly.

The number of grafts a package covers is as the clinic states it, often a band or a “maximum”. The table does not show graft counts, so read the figure off the clinic’s price list in your written quote.

What “from” means, and how the technique groups work

A “from” price is the clinic’s own starting price. Where a clinic publishes a range, the table shows both ends.

Ranges are grouped by technique, as each clinic names it. DHI (implanter pen) has five lines, from AU$3,200 to AU$7,250. FUE has three, from AU$3,750 to AU$5,500, with upper ends to AU$8,650. Sapphire FUE has three, from AU$3,850 to AU$5,750, with upper ends to AU$5,900. Three lines name no technique and run from AU$4,300 to AU$9,300, with upper ends to AU$10,050. Each group is small and the groups overlap, so a technique label alone does not predict the price. What a package covers moves the figure as much.

Why letters, not names, and why many clinics publish no price

The clinics asked not to be listed on public pages, so each has a letter in the table. Letters can change when the data is refreshed, which is why this guide never refers to a clinic by its letter.

Many clinics publish nothing usable. Some price per graft, some use another unit, and some quote only after they see photos of your scalp. A missing price tells you how a clinic sells, not how it treats.

What a published package usually includes, and what it leaves out

The table shows inclusions exactly as each clinic states them. “Not stated” means the price list does not say, which is not the same as “not included”.

Of the 14 lines, 11 state that transfers are included and 12 state a consultation. Where a line states hotel nights, it says two or three. No line states a guarantee term. A low headline can leave you paying for pieces that sit inside a higher one.

A clinic sets your graft count after it sees your photos or examines you. A package priced for a band or a “maximum” is not a promise that you will be treated for that number.

Ask the clinic to confirm these in writing, since a price list may leave them out or word them loosely:

  • the graft count or band the package covers, and what happens to the price if the count changes
  • hotel nights and transfers
  • blood tests: whether they are required, where you have them and who pays
  • medication and aftercare products, and the post-op wash: whether each is in the package, who carries it out and when
  • any add-ons offered on the day, with their prices

Where a clinic states a guarantee or warranty, it is as stated by the clinic, and it is a commercial term. Ask for the exact wording, what it covers, what voids it and who honours it once you are home.

What the price does not tell you

Who does the extraction and who does the implantation

A package price does not say who carries out each step. Ask which of these the named surgeon does personally: drawing the hairline, taking grafts, making the recipient sites and placing grafts. Ask which are done by technicians. Get the answers in your written quote, with the surgeon’s name, and ask what happens if the named surgeon changes after you pay a deposit. Ask too whether the surgeon has worked with your hair type and texture.

Graft count promised versus graft count taken

A graft count is easy to promise and hard to check afterwards. Ask whether you receive a record of the grafts taken and placed, and what the clinic does if the number differs from the plan.

Same-day schedules

Ask how many patients the surgical team treats on your procedure day, how long the surgeon spends with you at the planning stage, and whether the surgeon is in the room throughout.

Deposits, refunds and what you sign

Get the deposit, refund and cancellation terms in writing before any money moves. Ask what happens if the surgeon advises against the procedure when you meet, and how the balance is paid, so there are no surprises on the day. Read everything you sign, including any clause that restricts what you can say about your experience in a review or to a regulator.

Aftercare from home

Healing continues long after you fly home. Before you book, agree in writing who you contact if something looks wrong, how fast they answer, and who pays for a review or a revision. Keep your records: the treatment plan, the graft count, the medication list and the names of the clinicians.

Check any local doctor you see on return on the Ahpra Register of practitioners. Smartraveller says basic travel insurance policies rarely cover medical tourism, that a policy may not cover problems caused by your procedure, and that Medicare does not cover you overseas.

How fast they answer

Speed before payment is easy to match, so look at speed after it. Ask for a named person, a stated reply time and check-ins before you fly, in Istanbul and after you land. Our step-by-step process is built around one named coordinator.

Sapphire FUE, DHI and FUE: the technique question

These three labels describe how grafts are taken and placed. They are options to discuss with the surgeon, and this guide makes no claim that one gives better results, faster healing or higher density.

FUE stands for follicular unit extraction. The surgeon takes individual grafts from the donor area, usually the back and sides of the head, with a small punch, then places them into tiny channels made in the area being treated.

Sapphire FUE changes the tool used to make those channels. Clinics describe it as using blades with a sapphire tip in place of steel.

DHI stands for direct hair implantation. Grafts are loaded into a pen-like implanter that places them directly, so the channel and the placement happen in one step. Labels can hide as much as they show: a clinic that writes only “FUE” has not said what tool it uses for the channels. Ask the surgeon which technique they recommend for your hair and plan, and why. Also ask whether the head is fully shaved, since some clinics list an unshaven option.

Travelling to Istanbul for a hair transplant

Short stays, and the plan in writing

Clinics state short stays. Of the 9 clinics priced here, 7 state a stay on their own sites, and the figures run from 2 to 3 days. Your clinic sets the exact plan.

Ask for a day-by-day plan before you book flights, covering arrival, planning, procedure day, the post-op wash and check, and departure. Then ask in writing when you can fly home, how to sleep in the first nights, how to protect the treated area from sun, when you can return to the gym and how much leave to allow. Flights and the all-in figure

The all-in figure of AU$4,600 to AU$11,100 is the published package price plus one return economy fare, rounded to the nearest AU$50. Hotel nights are counted only where a clinic states them. Meals and insurance are extra, and so is our coordination fee. When we checked on 10 October 2026, for travel from 23 November to 2 December, the return fare was AU$1,405 to AU$1,811 from Sydney and AU$1,560 to AU$1,774 from Brisbane. Questions people ask us

How much does a hair transplant cost in Istanbul in Australian dollars?

As of October 2026, Istanbul clinics that publish a package price list it at AU$3,200 to AU$9,300, with a middle figure of AU$4,550. These are starting prices. A review of your photos and a written quote set your actual figure.

Does DHI cost more than FUE in Istanbul?

The published ranges overlap. The middle figure is AU$4,750 for DHI, AU$4,000 for FUE and AU$4,300 for Sapphire FUE, from groups of three to five lines. Package contents differ, so compare quotes, not labels.

Will the surgeon I am introduced to do my whole procedure?

Ask for the answer in writing, step by step. Also ask what you can do, such as a refund of your deposit, if a different surgeon is named on the day.

Who pays if I need a revision?

Ask before you book. Find out what the clinic states about revisions, where one would take place, and whether flights, hotel and time off work are your cost. Also ask which currency the balance and any refund are in, since the price lists behind this guide are published in euros and US dollars.

Our vetting checklist

Before a clinic goes on your shortlist, we check these seven things and show you the evidence.

  1. 1 The clinic is licensed with Turkey's Ministry of Health and the surgeon who plans and supervises your procedure is named before you book.
  2. 2 Who does each step is in writing: graft extraction, channel opening and implantation, and the surgeon's role in each.
  3. 3 The technique, the graft range planned for you and what happens if fewer grafts are taken are written into the quote.
  4. 4 The package is itemised: surgery, blood tests, medication, aftercare products, transfers and hotel nights, as stated.
  5. 5 Deposit, refund and cancellation terms are in writing before any money moves.
  6. 6 Aftercare is agreed in writing before you fly: washing and check-in schedule, who you contact from home, and what a touch-up costs.
  7. 7 Reviews are read on platforms the clinic cannot edit, with attention to patients from Australia and the UK.

We share the evidence for each point with your written quote.
